According to the "Wuhan City Water Ecosystem Protection and Restoration Plan" and "Wuchang "Dadong Lake" Area Ecological Water Network Control Plan (2008)", the water network connection plan, the Donghu Port comprehensive improvement project is the main project to realize the water connection project of Dadong Lake. The component is an important node project in the construction of the Qingshan Demonstration Zone in the sponge city of Wuhan, and is also a key project of the "Four Waters Co-governance".
Donghu Port starts and descends at the Buzui Gate in the north and reaches the Donghu Lake in the south. It runs through Qingshan, Hongshan and Donghu Scenic Areas. The total length is 4.7km, the red line width is 100-140 meters, the designed opening width is 48 meters, the channel bottom design width is 30 meters, and the designed flow rate 30 cubic meters per second. The current function is mainly used as a water diversion channel for WISCO to take the East Lake as a backup water source, and at the same time collect rainwater along the line and discharge it into the East Lake for storage. The main construction content includes channel renovation, bridge reconstruction and landscape greening along the canal. With a total investment of 1.391 billion yuan, the project started in September 2016 and the planned completion time is December 2017.
